Classic and elegant vintage 'Birks' ruby and diamond ring beautifully set in platinum. This intense red, slightly purplish Burmese ruby radiates from within a halo of gallery set near-colorless diamonds.

Ruby: One (1) oval faceted very fine quality intense Burma red ruby, very slightly purplish red, very slightly included. Measurements: approximately 6.934 mm x 5.9 mm x 3.3 mm., for an estimated weight of 1.46 ct.
Diamonds: Sixteen (16) prong set, round brilliant cut diamonds. Inner halo of slightly smaller diamonds. All diamonds range from 2.0-2.3 mm in diameter for an estimated calculated weight of 0.56 ct. Estimated clarity VVS-VS, F color.

The ridged architectural style trapeze shaped shank with inner round shank is adorned with a more natural nugget-esque dome with three tube set diamonds all done in solid 18k gold. Unsigned, however, attributed to Walter Schluep, note the conical shaped diamond tubes which was most typical of his style of craftmanship. Circa 1970.
