Marvelous antique (1886) buttery 18k pinkish-yellow gold oval hinged locket that opens to reveal a glass-covered photo compartment. The cover is lavishly engraved with the initials 'CJDB' and the reverse hand-engraved with the date '10 Mai 1886'. This 136 year old beauty hangs on a swinging bail.
Lockets were popular amongst the sentimental Victorians, and the original trendsetter Queen Victoria was a huge fan. These portable memento receptacles exploded in popularity then and continue to be today.
