Masterfully hand-carved, this large oval shell cameo depicts a reclined female figure in light drapery, possibly Venus, and a winged cherub. In the background a third non-winged youth is depicted on top of a pedestal. The lowest register below the ground line features a lovely geometric engraving, utilizing the whole visual space of the cameo with texture and carved design. The brooch is bezel set in 18k yellow gold with a pin and closure, and a bail attachment for the cameo to be worn as a pendant.
