Rare Edwardian handmade platinum tortoiseshell 0.87ct diamond hinged hair pin C.1900 by New York designers T.B. Starr. Inc. This decorative hair piece has mine cut, old European and single cut diamonds. -Exceptional millgrain work throughout.

Wings are ornamented in bright shades of red, blues, pink, coral, and purple done in the plique-à-jour (translucent enamel) technique. The articulated moving wings are so finely made that they are able to stand in place on their own. Our hearts fluttered when this special specimen flew into the store!
Singed 'Birks' and dates from the 1970's. Enamel work is in impeccable condition.
